~~Bust. Failure. Mess.~~

I met with the attorney general. Apparently, being wasted beyond belief and putting your trust and safety in a man who promises you he will not touch or take advantage of you, and then puts his penis in your hand, then your vagina, then your anus, after countless “no’s” have been expressed throughout the night and the course of a year of coming out as queer, leads to “insufficient evidence” to prove force and rape.

So my case isn’t going anywhere.

I feel so heavy, but not even for myself. I feel pain for the thousands of people who are told they have “insufficient evidence” and cannot move forward while sober people are out there taking advantage of drunk people’s dehydrated and exhausted bodies.

He knew what he did was wrong. I have resisted him for a year. I have fought him off for a year. Unwanted looks, grabs, hair pulls. Gestures. Language. Vulgarity.

He waited for my moment of weakness, and he just took it.

When will the persistence begin to equate coercion in the law?

ENOUGH!

The legal system has done NOTHING for me. NOTHING.

I asked Vice President of Student Affairs Larry Moneta what the typical sanction was for students found responsible for rape. This answer may shock you. One year suspensions.

This is more harsh than when we asked at Tufts. Basically rape reports never lead to a judicial hearing. They couldn’t remember the last time someone was found responsible and punished for rape. Sucks that so many schools have the bar so low.
